The Kidde KN-COSM-BA Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector is a convenient combination alarm that provides two fire safety detectors in one unit. It features ionization sensor technology for detecting invisible fire particles and an electrochemical sensor for detecting carbon monoxide gas. When a smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide event is detected, the alarm will sound an 85-decibel alarm, flash LEDs, and provide voice alerts.
For smoke detection, the alarm will announce "Fire! Fire!" along with a flashing red LED. If carbon monoxide is detected, the alarm will announce "Warning! Carbon Monoxide!". In the event of a low battery, the detector will announce "Low Battery!" The alarm is powered by 2-AA batteries, providing coverage during power outages.
The front-load battery door allows for easy installation and battery replacement without removing the entire unit from the ceiling. A Smart Hush button can silence the alarm for approximately 8 minutes in case of a nuisance alarm. The green LED on the alarm flashes every 60 seconds to indicate that the unit is powered and operating correctly.
It is recommended to install a carbon monoxide smoke detector combo on every level of your home and near bedrooms for maximum safety. The alarm is UL Certified with a 10-year limited manufacturer's warranty and meets various safety standards. The tamper-resistant design deters removal of the alarm from the ceiling.
